Thrash metal rhythm guitar parts are often palm-muted to create a tighter and more precise sound. Palm-muted parts are often played with a “crunch” distortion guitar tone. Vocally, thrash metal can employ anything from melodic singing to shouted vocals. Most thrash guitar solos are played at high speed.

Slayer rose to mainstream fame with their 1986 release Reign in Blood, and is credited as one of the “Big Four” thrash metal acts, along with Metallica, Megadeth and Anthrax.[3] Slayer’s sales are in the estimated high 20 million, although they have never publicly announced their sales worldwide. However, between the years 1991 and 2004, Slayer sold over 3.5 million albums in the U.S.

Iced Earth is an American power metal band from Tampa, Florida, formed in 1985, by guitarist and main songwriter Jon Schaffer and original drummer Greg Seymour. Iced Earth released their debut album in 1990. Since then, the band have released a total of ten studio albums, four EPs, three compilations, three box sets, one live album and one covers album.

In 1985, Connecticut’s Erik Barath and Dennis Gergely birthed I.N.C. out of the frustration and annoyance arisen by the cookie-cutter bands plastering videos on the sole cable station to bring music alive and deliver it to the masses, MTV. This hunger to create more than the norm was what harnessed Erik and Dennis’ energy to form Indestructible Noise Command. Intent on not wasting their precious time on such feeble pursuits, they drove the angst they felt into the type of music they wanted to see assaulting them from off the small screen; Angry, resentful, aggressive, violent, and vicious. As soon as guitarist Anthony Fabrizi and ex-drummer Gary Duguay got on board, I.N.C. starting booking local gigs – playing anywhere that their message could be heard.

Hunger was a little known band, but therefore not a bad band. Hunger has been forgotten for many years Hunger was born in 1992 from the ashes of Dark Angel, separated in 1992.Hunger was a groove metal band, as many others on ’90. Ron Rinehart and Eric Meyer joined forces with Greg Roe and RD Davies to form this band. Before Hunger’s breakup in 1993, the band recorded one 3 song demo (Considered an EP by the band members), but there were 10-12 songs written and several of them were recorded and never released. Six years later of their breakup, a Greek magazine called Metal Invader re-released their 1993 demo as a split with two more demos from Dark Tranquillity and Infernäl Mäjesty.

Carnivore was an American crossover thrash band from Brooklyn, New York by singer and bassist Peter Steele, and was formed out of the breakup of the Brooklyn metal group Fallout in 1982. Carnivore released their self-titled debut album Carnivore in January of 1985. For this album the band spelled their names in what they thought were “exotic” ways. In September of 1987 they released their second album, Retaliation.

Shred guitar or shredding is a lead playing style for the electric guitar, based on various fast soloing techniques. Critics have stated that shred guitar is associated with “sweep-picked arpeggios, diminished and harmonic minor scales, finger-tapping and whammy-barabuse”, while other guitar writers say that rather than being a musical definition, it is a fairly subjective cultural term used by guitarists and enthusiasts of guitar music.
