10 INFORMATION ABOUT NINJA FIGHTERS THAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Who are ninjas, are they really dangerous and what do we know about their skill? Are they invincible fighters and where does their strength lies? Is this all a mystery or just a well rehearsed fight sport?

What ninjas have for what are they trained for, there is no way to know. Even though in movies they are represented as heroes, that mastered many fighting skills, many of them did not fight on the side of justice. Ninjas are an organization of people that work for money: most often those are robberies, murders or espionages and the word ninja means to move in the dark, they would do anything for money and in Japan in that age they were considered to be the lowest layer of society. They were women ninjas, and ninja is divides in three ranks: genin (ordinary without rights solider), chunin (not completely without rights, they issued orders to genins-from jonin), jonin (commander of ninja clan, there were few of them in one clan). Ninjas used kuji-kiri: magical signs with their fingers. By fixing enemies with a hypnotic stare and performing incantations ninjas could create confusion to distract from their escape.

In the 17th Century the Shogun Tokugawa banned Ninjutsu – or even the mention of it – on penalty of death. This put a seal of secrecy on the art of the ninja.

There is disagreement over what ninjas are believed to have worn. Some say that black clothing would have attention at night and so instead a dark navy blue was used.

Ninjas may actually have been able to walk on water. They used specially designed “water shoes” to remain standing and afloat on bodies of water.

Ninjas would often wear a chainmail shirt: Kusari Katabira. As this was under their clothing it could appear that a sword cut didn’t affect them.

East Timor is actually at war with ninjas, blaming them for a spate of murders. Some say this is a political gambit, but some East Timorese leave wards against ninjas on their houses.

Unlike samurai, ninjas would have had day jobs as they were normally from the peasant class. They would sometimes use their day job, as a pedlar or farmer to spy.

Ninja swords had large guards on them which could be used as a footstep for climbing. The sheaths could also contain powders to blind a foe when the sword was drawn.

Ninja had six basic disguises: the present, the mountain ascetic, the merchant, the bard, the entertainer and the commoner. Each was designed to offer a different role in espionage.

Ninjas were known to dislocate their jaw or commit suicide to avoid releasing information when captured. They would also slash their own faces with knives to prevent visual identification.
