10 HISTORICAL FACTS ABOUT ANCIENT GREECE

Ancient Greece is the name that is used to describe the world in which people talked in Greek language in ancient times. That name relates to not only the area of today’s Greek state, but to areas populated by Greeks in ancient times. According to the traditions the period of ancient Greece begins with the first Olympic Games in 776 B.C., but most of today’s historians expand that term to about 1000 years B.C. Traditional date of the end of period of ancient Greece is considered to be the death of Alexander the Great in 323 B.C.

Ancient Greece some historian consider as the foundation of western European civilization culture. Greek culture performed a strong influence on Roman Empire that transferred its shape over many parts of Europe. Civilization of ancient Greece immeasurably influenced the language, politics, educations, philosophy, art and architecture of modern world, especially during Renaissance in Western Europe, and later in America.
