10 MOST FAMOUS ADVENTUROUS EXPEDITIONS IN OUR HISTORY

Travels, adventures, and discovery of something new, attracted people during the course of entire history. The only difference is that reasons and motives for something like that today, are very different, from needs and reasons that people had hundreds of years ago.

Today most people decide to take such a undertaking for personal pleasure and personal proving, which lead to the creation of extreme tourism. There is not, for now at least, generally accepted definition of extreme tourism but there are roots of this kind of vacationing that go back not so long ago.

If we were to start to dig through human history and to research what people started adventurous travels, it is sure that the beginning would be long as the historical development of the man himself. Herodotus, Ibn Battuta, the Vikings, Marco Polo, Vasco da Gama, Magellan, Columbus, numerous explorers of west and north of America, Siberia, Africa, South America, Australia and New Zealand, Antarctic and Arctic and many other regions in the world, became famous for their adventurism, and were the first where no man was before them. In that time people were forced to such steps to discover new worlds, roads and to expand their influence and culture to other regions of the world. Poorly equipped and not informed enough about the dangers that threaten them, readily decided on large steps that even from today’s stand point do not seem insignificant. In order to remind ourselves of those daring and brave people let’s look at 10 greatest and most famous adventures and expeditions that marked our history.
